Those Summers

 Those Summers

"Those Summers"
I went down to the lake to get pictures of the sun setting behind the mountains. I hiked about a mile into the woods to a particular location. I had only been to this spot once before. I knew it would be a good place to get the sunset and was looking forward to a good shoot. Less than a minute after I arrived at this spot a father and his three children came peddling up on their bikes and parked right on the bank of the lake.

To say I was annoyed with them would be an understatement. It then occurred to me that I could use this to my advantage. I decided to snap some shots of the bikes and the family swimming in the lake. What would have probably turned out to be an ordinary shoot of the same old boring captures of a mountain sunset turned into an interesting photo shoot.

The above image is from that shoot. This image reminds me of my own childhood. It reminds me of growing up in southeastern Indiana fishing and swimming in the pond, wading in the creeks catching crawdads. I'd ride my bike for miles on the country roads. It reminds me of those summers...
